Eating Big Boy Food!
As many of you know, Leo has had a hard time making the switch from pureed baby food to table food. On Thursday, we had a good conversation with the Doctor about it and he agreed that it was time for us to visit an Occupational Therapist to evaluate Leo's texture aversion.
Well, I guess Leo understands more than we give him credit for. That afternoon at lunch he promptly refused his baby food and that evening at dinner I got him to eat over half of a chicken nugget. We decided that we would try to run with this and stop offering baby food. I spent the next few days totally fretting over the amount Leo was eating because it just didn't seem like much. But, he was finally chewing food and feeding himself! Leo ate cantaloupe, strawberries, chicken, peas, green beans and toast as if he had been doing it for months. On Sunday night it was if his appetite finally turned on. He ate an entire fish stick, steamed potatoes, peas, green beans and cantaloupe - ALL in one meal! I have to admit, I was so excited, I had tears in my eyes! I also discovered that Leo REALLY likes ketchup, he had it every everywhere!
Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. As I write this Leo is behind me munching on cinnamon toast and cantaloupe. Yippee!

Too cute not too share!
So we hiked in the Columbia River Gorge yesterday. We were next to a
waterfall and it was raining, so the air was very moist. When we took
leos hat off his hair was even more silly than normal!

8 month old bug a lug and a new home
I know, I know...where have we been? It's been a very busy few months for us!!!
Leo became mobile at about 6 months. It started with an army crawl. Then the real crawling started right before 7 months. In both stages of crawling Leo has proven to be very speedy!!! When he gets focused on something there is no stopping him. Needless to say, we have been running after him morning, noon and night!
All of this mobility blossomed right as we were moving into our new home. Charlie and I sold our home in the burbs and headed back into town! We could not be happier!! We are renting this great, warm and homey house in the Westbury area. Charlie is uber close to work and school, we have wonderful neighbors and we feel like we are right where we belong.
So on to the 8.5 old sweet baby boy. Not only is he crawling, but he is also pulling up to standing, crusing around on the furniture and walking with assistance. He loves to push around anything with wheels that let's him "walk" around. He recently mastered drinking water from a straw!! He also babbles non stop and has moved on from ga-ga to ma-ma, ba-ba and da-da. Leo laughs more freely now which is just music to our ears!
Medically things are about the same. We confirmed his milk protein allergy when we tried yogurt, but other than milk and corn we have not encountered any other food allergies. He's really taken to meat, Leo just loves chicken and turkey and now has meat with every meal. Thats also been great for his weight gain, Leo now weighs 18.4 lbs and is about 29-30 inches long.
I'll post pictures soon and I will get better about posts again. The move kicked my butt!! :) I have also downloaded an app that will let me get posts up from my phone so I am hoping that will help too.

Play Dates!
Leo has had a few play dates over the last month that resulted in some adorable pictures!!
Here is Leo with Melissa's little angels, Brynlee & Chance. They are 10 month old twins and just hilarious. Chance showed Leo how to chew on toys and Brynlee gave Leo lots of big kisses.

This is Leo's friend Ashton. My friend, Chandra, had Ashton just days after Leo made his entrance into the world. Ashton is a super sweet little guy. They kept touching each others faces and seemed to be eager to get to know each other!
And this is Leo's buddy Drake, Niki's son. Leo is just 10 days older than Drake. I call Drake my little teddy bear, he just loves to cuddle

The 5.5 Month Old Scooting Crawfish
At 5 months Leo weighed in at 15 lbs 10 ounces and was 27 inches long! He's a very big boy with his super long legs and arms.
Leo is as active as ever! He still loves his jumperoo and now also jumps in his Johnny Jumper (a jumper that connects to the door jam). His new favorite activity is trying to crawl. He can get himself up on all fours and rock around. Usually he manages to make himself scoot backwards (for this reason, Charlie calls him a crawfish) but he has launched himself forward a few times too. We are officially on "crawl" watch in the Schreiner household! We got a great video that I will post soon.
Solid foods continue to go well. He now eats carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, pears, prunes, apples, & bananas. Peas went really well at first and then he decided he didn't like them. I guess we will try again in a week or so. With the exception of the prunes, I am still making the majority of his food. It really is quite easy and saves a TON of money. With Leo's allergies I like knowing EXACTLY what is in his food. We will be venturing on to butternut squash and oatmeal soon.
Leo can also "Roll with Intent" now, that is he has figured out that he can roll himself to get to things he wants. Usually what he wants is Cooper :)
We have our first tooth!!! I noticed that his gums looked like they were breaking on Sunday 1/24, by Monday you could feel a sharp point and then on Tuesday you could actually see it. It's not all the way in but its slowly making it's way through.
Most of these pictures don't really show it off, but Leo got his first hair cut! He had this goofy chunk of hair on top that was a ton longer than the rest of his head. He can now pull off a super cute spiky doo!
Here are pictures from the last month!
Leo wants anything he can get his hands on, he really likes Topo Chico bottles, you have to watch him! This one is hilarious too!
Leo & Cooper, they just love each other!

A Monkey's First Chistmas
What a wonderful holiday season. To say we are blessed is an understatement! Leo's first holiday season was a complete success. Our first Christmas as parents was just wonderful.
Charlie's parents, Mike and Tami, spent the holidays with us. They haven't seen him since he was just a few weeks old and just loved spending time with him. He has grown a TON since the last time they saw him!
And of course, the baby was showered with gifts. Currently, his favorites are his sock monkey, a fisher-price basketball goal and Scout the dog (a stuffed animal with a USB hub!). Santa brought Leo a high chair!
