As many of you know, Leo has had a hard time making the switch from pureed baby food to table food. On Thursday, we had a good conversation with the Doctor about it and he agreed that it was time for us to visit an Occupational Therapist to evaluate Leo's texture aversion.
Well, I guess Leo understands more than we give him credit for. That afternoon at lunch he promptly refused his baby food and that evening at dinner I got him to eat over half of a chicken nugget. We decided that we would try to run with this and stop offering baby food. I spent the next few days totally fretting over the amount Leo was eating because it just didn't seem like much. But, he was finally chewing food and feeding himself! Leo ate cantaloupe, strawberries, chicken, peas, green beans and toast as if he had been doing it for months. On Sunday night it was if his appetite finally turned on. He ate an entire fish stick, steamed potatoes, peas, green beans and cantaloupe - ALL in one meal! I have to admit, I was so excited, I had tears in my eyes! I also discovered that Leo REALLY likes ketchup, he had it every everywhere!
Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come. As I write this Leo is behind me munching on cinnamon toast and cantaloupe. Yippee!
